Can therapy help me?
When you’ve decided to make your life better, through giving up a harmful habit, improving your health, or overcoming past or present trauma, therapy helps.
How will therapy help me?
Simply talking about your concerns with a professional who has background in mental health and sees a number of people helps you see that your feelings are valid and shared. You are not alone.
Do you offer online and in-person therapy?
Yes. Online therapy is offered worldwide, anywhere you can get a secure and trusted internet connection. In-person sessions are available throughout Southern California from Los Angeles to San Diego, and the Inland Empire.
Can I get a consultation without having to pay for it?
Yes. I offer a free 20-minute telephone consultation. If I can help you, we’ll schedule a session and make a treatment plan together. If what you need is out of my scope, I have a network of excellent colleagues and therapists I can refer you to.
Will you prescribe medication?
No. I’m not that kind of doctor. I WILL offer guidance on natural supplements, especially for weight loss. I WILL work as part of a treatment team with your medical doctor.
How soon will I feel better?
Many people report improvement as soon as they make an appointment. Research shows that making a concrete plan to deal with your issues begins immediately forming new neural pathways.
What specific therapeutic modalities do you use to help me?
The therapies we choose together depend very much on you. Every session will begin with cognitive work, where we discuss your goals, your challenges, and the progress you have already made. From there, we determine how to best proceed, with hypnotherapy, further cognitive behavioral therapy, habit amelioration, or Integral Eye Movement Therapy.
How many sessions will I need?
That’s entirely up to you. Some clients find it useful to continue weekly for years. Others find that one to six sessions can do what they need. I will tell you if I think you need less frequent sessions, or that we ought to focus on something new, but you determine what you need.
What is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy?
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a structured, goal-oriented type of talk therapy that has proven to be effective in treating anxiety, depression, and the residual effects of trauma, like PTSD or c-PTSD.
What is Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy provides a changed state of awareness and increased relaxation that allows for improved focus and concentration. I recommend seeing a trained practitioner who is insured, certified, and ethical. Most important is the rapport you enjoy with the therapist and the trust you have in them. Kappasinian hypnosis, which is what I practice, uses YOUR suggestions, YOUR experience to help you reach your goals. Every session is tailored to you and every session is recorded for your use in later self-hypnosis, as well as peace of mind for both of us.
What is IEMT?
Integral Eye Movement Therapy is a highly effective technique for resolving negative emotions, memories, and limiting beliefs associated with traumatic events, PTSD, anxiety, phobias and intrusive thoughts.
